The ATM Communications

*** At every point in the N.W. processing is done

on a cell by cell basis.

*** Information in the cell header is all that is required

to complete the process.

*** No need to process error correction/recovery so

processing is highly efficient and fast.

*** In ATM only one path exists per connection,

since all associated cells travel the same route

they all arrive in sequence.

*** Mux/Demux of cells or groups of cells is handled

at the Physical layer.
